THE HOME OF DIMITRA:
The road directs downhill to the South side of the settlement of Mavrikiano and both Houses one
on top of the other lay to the right hand side of the road ( Ground Floor Dimitra, 1st Floor
Penelope ).
The entrance leads to a small Hall for sitting with table and canopy. The door leads to
sunbathing open and shaded areas and at the end is an ample size Swimming Pool inviting you for
a long deep. To the right of the Pool is a convenient Kitchen fully equipped to the used by
both Homes with a large table to seat six guests at the edge of the Pool. Next to the Main
Entrance is the indoor small Kitchen with all utensils and following is the entrance to the
House with a large Twin-bedded Room with Fireplace at the far end corner. The door to the
right leads to a small Twin-bedded Room and at the end the door leads to a full size Bathroom
equipped with a water Massage.
The Dimitra House has a wonderful mountain View and is about 60 sq. and can easily
accommodate four guests in two different Bedrooms. The Furniture are copies of original pieces
but lamps, fittings are genuine and identical to those exhibited in the Historical Museum of
Iraklion Crete, including the icons built in the walls which have been found wrapped in a
sack within the wall during the works of the reconstruction.
Old people still in life believe that the House was originally a small church, thus the icons
and a cross which was found at the entrance of it no longer existing.
There is available a Private Garage for two cars.
The tiles used within the House have been taken off by demolished Old Houses, they are hand
made of style of 1920. The sink in the Kitchen is of marble and has been found in Turkish
Hamam. Taps are copies of the style of 1920. The reddish plaster on the walls is made of
crashed tiles and is of same material all Monasteries in Crete are constructed with dated 14th
-16th century.
The Ground Floor is 60 m2 in two different Rooms. The Veranda and the Swimming Pool is 70
m2.
THE HOME OF PENELOPE:
The road directs downhill to the south side of the settlement of Mavrikiano. Following the
road to the right is the entrance of Penelope House.
Few stairs up and you are in common open area on the left is the ample size Swimming Pool.
On the right is the Sunbathing Area and opposite is an open but shaded full size Kitchen to be
shared with the guests of the House of Dimitra. Next to the oven the stairs will lead to the
open Terrace half shaded and on the left is a fully equipped the Private Kitchen of the House
with oven and next is the door leading to the Main Twin-bedded Room.
On the right is the Fire place, on the left and right are two Single Beds and behind are the
wooden Stairs leading to the convenient Sofa area which sleeps two guests in a large Twin
Bed.
Opposite to the Main Room is the full size Bathroom and to the right is the door to a smaller
Twin-bedded Room with a Balcony with breathtaking Mountain View. The Penelope House has a
wonderful Mountain View, is about 80 sq. m. and can accommodate six adults in three different
Bedrooms. All lamps and fittings are the original pieces and identical to those exhibited at
the Historical Museum of Heraklion Crete Greece.
