The hotel's impressive main building was built during the 19th century (1857) in Vaporia, the aristocratic district of Ermoupolis, the capital. It impresses fans of neo-classical beauty as it has been preserved and much of it has been kept intact with its Parian marble balconies, the special antefixes, archaic gables and wooden-carved eaves that are still present.
The building was formally designated a historical landmark in 1988, and it was extended over the years and adapted to the needs of the modern age, mixing the 19th century aesthetics with all the comforts of a luxury hotel.
Syrou Melathron's rooms are characterized by style and finesse. Everywhere, the aristocracy and the pictures of a bygone period are obvious and coexist harmoniously with the modern comforts given.
