It is full of trails and hidden landscapes, which you can explore to communicate with nature and discover the healing herbs of the mountain. Apart from hiking, the area of Chania offers many outdoor sports such as climbing and mountain biking. The region has managed to remain relatively pure and not to be sacrificed to the uncontrolled tourism development, providing unforgettable nature holidays, respect for it and multiple choices of entertainment and exploration.

Hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, as there are forest , rural streets and a great number of paths that favor such activities for those who want to experience, explore and enjoy in this way locations of amazing beauty, magnificent scenery and green areas with cool running waters.
It is mainly indicated for the months of Spring and Summer (May-September). Most of the trails are flagged and appropriate for all visitors, so it is not necessary for someone to be a skilled climber or walker, to use them. There are also paths with greater degree of difficulty for those who are more experienced. Before every activity it is advisable for the interested to check weather conditions, inform one of their familiars or the hotelier and have the appropriate equipment such as:

Making a hiking trip to Chania and surrounding areas is the ideal way to explore the heart of this fascinating place. Get to the engraved and marked trails or the slopes of the mountains. In Pelion you are given the opportunity to walk and discover the ancient paths of mythology and history. Every season of the year has different colors and interests.
By choosing the Aegean Sea, be sure that, you will be doing a lot more altitudes but you will be rewarded by the green of Eastern Pelion. Having as a peak the Ski Center of Pelion, you will go down to Zagora or Kissos and from there you will go to Mouresi or Tsagarada without forgetting the very beautiful beaches of Plaka, Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero, Damouchari, Fakistra or in Mylopotamos. If you want quieter routes without a lot of cars or most of the routes are done through dirt roads, enjoying nature more.
Starting from Chania (ski resort), just outside Manthos Hotel, we pass through the football fields, follow a path that goes down to Portaria, we reach asphalt at the cross point, and from there we follow the path which leads to Portaria.
Winter sports
Pelion Ski Center has 3 main ski slopes, 1 ski slope for beginners and 1 endurance track. These are served by an aerial two-seater lift, 2 aerial one-seaters and 2 sliding (with saucer). The altitude at the tallest parking area is 1,300 m. Then we have to walk about 400 m up to the lifts which can lift us to a 1,470 m altitude point with an incredible double sight: in our one hand we have the whole Pagasitikos Gulf and from the other we have the Aegean Sea, the Thermaic Gulf, Halkidiki and the Cone of Mount Athos!
Horse riding
For a first contact with horses and horseback riding, there is a one hour stroll in the surrounding area of the hotel, mostly for the ones who try this for the first time. Then, if they wish, they can also enjoy the beauties of nature, freedom, by riding on routes we will suggest and of course with a guide.
Sea Sport-Rowing-Kayak
Sea kayak is the best way to enjoy the sea, the beautiful seashores and the beaches of Pelion from a different perspective. In the summer months where the weather is good and the waters of Pelion are literally crystal clear, by making sea kayak you will be able to explore and approach some points that by other means you would not have this possibility.
With Chania as starting point or any other spot you may choose and with the right map you can take many routes depending on the days and you have the opportunity to roam the most beautiful, virgin and remote beaches of the Aegean Sea or the more calm waters of the Pagasitikos Gulf. Starting from Elitsa in the Aegean Sea, get ready for routes between unique rocky formations and beaches such as Saints Saranda, Plaka, Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero, Damouchari, Fakistra, Mylopotamos, Lambinou, Plaka Neochori, Pantazi sand, Potoki, Mouritsa, Potistika, Melani, Paltsi, Mourtia, Lyri and Katigiorgis.
Rowing in deep waters after Katigiorgis you will meet Kastri, Platanias, Mikro, Akrotiri Grava, and in the narrow streets of Pagasitikos Gulf, Agia Kyriaki and Mylos.
If you choose to roam through the waters of Pagasitikos Gulf, you will meet Old Trikeri, an island “independent” with only sea access that is worth the trouble to explore
Continuing your journey, you will enjoy the calm waters of Kottes and Jasteni, Marathia, Milina, Horto, Paou, Kalamos, Lefokastro, Afissos, Koropi, Kala Nera, Kato Gatzea, Malaki, in Platanidia and we will end up in the beautiful Agria of Pelion.

Motorized sports
The mountains of Pelion have great driving pleasure or adventure for all types of motorcycles or cars and 4×4.There are hundreds of kilometers of dirt road in the mountains, amid dense vegetation and among the imposing green wild chestnut and beech trees, next to traditional stone bridges and rivers with frozen crystal clear waters. Playing with the snow and the water in winter and enjoying nature or making a dip in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea or the Pagasitikos Gulf in summer.
Driving through the mountains of Pelion, you will be able to enjoy beautiful pictures of the flora and fauna by watching hawks, eagles, wild boar, jackals, foxes and other animals or picking up wild fruits, herbs and mushrooms. In Pelion every year many visitors have the opportunity to participate amateurally, since there are several Enduro matches, On-Off, Quad, Trail ride, 4×4. For Rally enthusiasts every year in May, the Volos Car Club carries out the “Rally Centaur”.
