Alykes, the seaside part of Katastari village, is situated in the north eastern part of the island, just 16km away from Zakynthos town. The former salt pans near the sea gave this part of the village its name.

Alykes is not a touristic strip – only a 15 minutes stroll and you are in the middle of a typical agricultural Greek village with its beautiful private gardens, a primary school and a lot of farming around.

It is a perfect green location for walking, hiking and biking. Don’t be surprised to be invited by a village inhabitant to try fruits from his trees or even to have a Greek coffee with them!

Alykes is the perfect base for exploring the rest of the island: Just a 20 minutes drive to Zante town, only half an hour to the north with its famous Blue Caves – nothing is really far away from Alykes and can be visited in no time.
