Kyma is king of the hill, a 5-star haven of luxury hospitality high above Mykonos town yet just a short stroll from the action – the very spot where George Daktylides placed the first stone of the Myconian Collection some 40 years ago. Ever since, this strikingly beautiful and intimate 5-star member of Design Hotels has cultivated a loyal jet-set following that prizes not only the world-famous views of the windmills and Little Venice, but the warmth of its hallmark service, cool ambience and beautiful bones. Neither too trendy nor too traditional, Kyma is a place for true originals. It hits the right note between laid-back luxury and meticulous attention to detail – revealing a world of sublime experiences, lush gardens, panoramic views, private terraces, and art-filled spaces that come alive in contrasts of marble and wood.

Guests absorb slow-motion pleasures in this timeless environment, enhanced by a recent renovation that accessorised its classic chic with a bevy of iconic 1960s design beauties. The pool deck is the heart of the hotel, a brilliant blue gem surrounded by shaded sunbeds, an outdoor lounge and a fabulous bar that lives up to its reputation as a hotspot, by day and night. The restaurant serves up irresistible flavours rooted in Mediterranean cuisine, made from the freshest seasonal produce farmed off family land.

And naturally, the spoiling doesn’t stop there: you will love our double-storeyed structures in the white-washed vernacular, rooms and suites designed with every comfort in mind, some sporting terraces with a private pool or Jacuzzi that almost eclipse the dazzling Aegean view. Here you’ll relax and recharge in the hands of superb therapists in our serene spa, and you can rely on the expert advice of our Guest Relations to make almost anything possible. Kyma is Greek for ‘wave’, and equally the last word in sophisticated, family-friendly hospitality on Mykonos.

The infinity pool is a sparkling aquamarine gem set over two separate levels, surrounded by shaded sun loungers with navy-blue highlights. Intimate corners are sheltered from the gentle breeze and the sense of cool sophistication spills over to the outdoor lounge and poolside bar. Attentive at all hours of the day, George’s Bar serves the coolest refreshments and light lunches by day, as well as fine aperitifs and pre-dinner nibbles.

At the forefront of service, you will always find the captain of our ship, Marios Daktylides. Like his father before him, Marios is a consummate local host who continues the legacy of creating truly authentic experiences. It may be surprising that someone so involved in shaping the future of Mykonos wants to talk about the past. But for Marios, the next chapter of this idyllic Greek island was written generations ago.

‘Mykonos was originally made popular many years ago by the exceptional hospitality of the locals,’ he explains. ‘You see, in the old days people would come to the island and the residents here would give their houses to visitors and simply sleep on the beach. Our guest services are rooted in that tradition. My father, George Daktylides, along with the great support of my mother, Eleftheria, built their success on that spirit of hospitality, hard work and “meraki”, which in Greek means passion.’

At Kyma we would be delighted to cater to small groups or newlyweds who would like to celebrate intimate occasions in luxury. We are able to host the most idyllic ceremonies in the quaint chapel on the pool deck for up to 100 guests.

However, for grand wedding banquets, we rely on the extensive experience, state-of-the art facilities, transport fleet and catering prowess of the Royal Myconian and our sister hotels in Elia to complement our uniquely intimate environment.

Food & Beverages

Whether it’s a delightful breakfast by the pool, a refreshingly light meal, or three-course fine dining at Noa, inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, Taste at Kyma is a memorable experience.

As a Myconian family, cuisine and service are at the very heart of our sense of hospitality, and we have cultivated long-standing ties to local farmers and fishermen. Our meticulous sourcing of the freshest seasonal ingredients and organic produce is a core passion. We aim high — as food connoisseurs, we know that haute cuisine relies on the quality of ingredients at the chefs’ disposal. Our chef’s skill is therefore given free rein to set standards of excellence at every turn, from morning till night, but nowhere more outstanding than with cutting-edge cuisine at NOA Oyster Bar & Grill. As for George’s Bar, all of our guests’ paths cross there, whether it’s to order fresh smoothies and ice-cold cocktails by day, or a chilled Ouzo before going out on the town.

Kyma is a luxurious retreat that promises nothing less than your own slice of paradise. Few places capture the timeless beauty of bold white-washed Cycladic cubes and cobblestone streets under a deep blue sky better than Kyma. The harmony is carried over onto sun-dappled terraces with Jacuzzis and infinity pools, and into the rooms and suites that offer crisp white interiors replete with contemporary comforts and precision in every detail. A recent revamp added marble, wood, glass, and stone to this vernacular, infusing tradition with new vigour, complete with original artworks by well-known international artists. As a sense of wellness washes over you in this haven of tranquillity, let the wave of pleasure carry you aloft.

Kyma enjoys an exceptional position, a short stroll away from the stone steps of the historical harbour below the windmills, leading down to Little Venice and the most picturesque part of Mykonos town. The views of its gleaming white profile outlined against the deep blue of the Aegean are indelible iconic images. This proximity to the town’s bustling maze of narrow alleys, booming with hip bars and acclaimed restaurants, makes Kyma a choice destination for guests who seek the sophisticated Myconian nightlife paired with the elegance of a top Design Hotel. Local crafts and high-end boutiques, including Chanel, Burberry, and Louis Vuitton, are part of the eclectic mix. As are the Aegean Maritime Museum and the Folklore Museum, perfect for those seeking a nostalgic overview of the rich seafaring and cultural history of Mykonos.

To experience the island’s legendary club life, take a short trip by boat to Cavo Paradiso (2 km away) or Super Paradiso, slightly further afield. The party migrates from sun-drenched beach bars to open-air nightclubs pumping with all-night energy. A complimentary shuttle service is available to run guests to the other hotels in the Myconian Collection.

Ferries to the famous ruins of Delos, one of the most important mythological and archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, depart from the town harbour. Alternatively, you may choose to explore the neighbouring desert island of Rhenia, or the hidden coves of Mykonos by private launch.
