Cress Ghitonia is one of the places that you have to see if you are in Crete. It is a designated "Traditional Cretan Neighbourhood" of the 1800's that has been fully reconstructed while maintaining all of its original architectural and cultural elements. At the panoramic Cressa Iris restaurant all guests have the opportunity to taste an awakening combination of Cretan and other Greek dishes, some of which originate from Cressa's own biological garden. Also, the pool and snack bar introduces light lunch and all day menu together with new generation cocktails. At the panoramic Cressa Iris Restaurant that overlooks the Aegean Sea and the mountains, you will have the opportunity to taste an awakening combination of Cretan and other Greek dishes from the hands of our Chef, some of which originate from Cressa’s own biological garden.

A journey into real Cretan cuisine is felt at once where the smell of fresh ingredients and fruits pervade and linger in the air and where age old traditions have been kept alive using organic produce to offer local homemade tastes with our organic olive oil.

At each of Cressa Ghitonia’s 15 houses, suites, studios or rooms you will have the opportunity to travel back in time, but still benefit from all modern comforts. Each-and-every-one of our rooms is truly unique, with historical value, and it has maintained its heritage.

In the past centuries, most of these properties where the permanent residences of the people of the village of Sfaka or were used by them for their every day activities. One of the houses used to be a winepress, in another the Sfakans used to produce olive oil, and in a third they made and repaired shoes. Every room has maintained its original layout depending on the property’s former use.

Location

Cressa Ghitonia Village is a unique reconstructed neighbourhood of the 1800’s found in a picturesque village of Eastern Crete, Sfaka, Lassithi. Eastern Crete is famous for its authentic and well-preserved mountain villages, its beautiful landscapes and its virgin, untouched character. Vai Palm Tree Beach forest, the famous Toplou Monastery, Sitia town and many other signature destinations of Eastern Crete are at a driving distance from Cressa Ghitonia Village. The beach is located 6 km away from the hotel.

It is located in the highest part of the mountainous village of Sfaka, just 6 km from one of the beaches of the fish-village of Mochlos and other neighbouring attractions.
