Kalymnos is an island in the south-eastern Aegean Sea belonging to the complex of Dodecanese.
Rocky and barren form very early in time its residents turned their gaze to the sea and particularly to sponge diving. In recent years the island has developed its tourism sector thanks mainly to the unique and world famous rock climbing opportunities offered by the landscape at Massouri and also to the development of deep sea diving tourism.
The settlement of Myrties
The settlement of Myrties or Myrthies is situated at the entrance of the Massouri region and its difference to the rest of the island is apparent at first glance as it is the only part of the area with vegetation, a slope with a magnificent view of the petrified princess of Telendos which provides shade and coolness in the otherwise sunburnt and hot landscape.
