It is the most southern island of the Cycladic group in the Aegean Sea, and is located 63 nautical miles north of Crete. Its surface area is 73 sq. km. and its population, distributed among thirteen villages.

The village of Oia is located on a high cliff with amazing views of the Volcano. It is one of the most sophisticated villages of Santorini with picturesque colourful houses and the beautiful views. The village was devastated in 1956 by a strong earthquake and it has managed to slowly recover in full. The best location to enjoy the spectacular views to the famous romantic sunset, is at the walls of the old Castle, the “Kastro” area.
