The Grecotel chain was founded in 1981 from the family Daskalantonaki and the international tourist colossus 'TUI Group'. The chain fast became synonymous with the significance of luxurious hospitality allocating hotels of four and five stars. The Grecotel Group is the largest hotel chain in Greece with 28 properties. In 2003 the total bed capacity of the Grecotel Group exceeds 12.000 beds and will climb to over 16.000 in 2004, with Resort and City Hotels in the more beautiful regions of Greece - in Thrace, Macedonia, Thessaly, Sterea Hellas, Ionian islands, Peloponnese, Cyclades, Dodecanese and Crete. In that recently was added also the hotel Sheraton in Sofia, Bulgaria. Over 4,000 personnel are employed in the Grecotel offices and hotels, making it the most significant employer in the Greek hospitality sector. Grecotel has been awarded over 105 international awards by guests, tourism organisations, tour operators and international associations for the quality of its hotels, its upgrading of the Greek tourism product and for its initiatives in the environmental and cultural field. |
